About EMR

This course offers the opportunity for students to become Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) Certified through the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services.  Team members participate in hands-on activities to learn how to respond to various medical and traumatic emergencies.  Students earn the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers certification.  The certification requires that students pass written tests and skills check off tests that prove that the student is competent and knowledgeable in treating a victim or patient. This course requires that students complete 25 hours of teacher-approved work in addition to the instructional time.  This course is offered at the Satellite Center and provides the opportunity for students to earn an Industry Based Certification of Emergency Medical Responder (EMR).   These certifications provide a gateway into the medical field and are also valuable to students who are interested in working in industry.  Many of the local plants require their operators to be certified as a first responder.
