Meet The Facilitator

Mr. Carlos Mayoral

Welcome to my class. I'm a retired engineer and physicist with 36 years of industry experience.  I can't believe I'm starting my tenth year teaching at the Satellite Center.   I'm really excited about this year.   We're continuing the dual-enrollment program with the University of New Orleans physics department for fall and spring freshman physics labs.  In addition, last year we began a dual-enrollment program with the UNO College of Engineering for the Introduction to Engineering class.  St. Charles Parish Schools continues to provide us with new technologies such as 3-D printers and RPN logic calculators.  This should be another fun and rewarding year.  Our team members are taking a great step forward toward a career in science and engineering.

Engineering Design:

• Engineering Design is intended to introduce team members to the field of engineering. This course provides an overview of engineering principles and practices that are emphasized through hands-on activities in a wide range of engineering technologies using industrial quality equipment and software. Physics is also taken in this course.

  Prerequisite: Advanced Math and offered to seniors only

  Possible Careers: Architectural Engineer, Civil Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Electrical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer.
