Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism (HRT) Administration I:

The Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration course is an introduction to a successful career in the hospitality industry.  Emphasis is placed on the various skills and services found in event planning, food and beverage management, advertising, marketing, travel and tourism. The class focuses on developing 21st century skills such as effective communication skills, teamwork and leadership practices that can be applied in any business setting. Topics covered in this course range from the planning, organization and implementation of events, fundraisers, festivals and walking tours, customer service training and the economic impact of tourism. Real world projects provide opportunities for application of instructional competencies.  This course is offered at the Satellite Center.  Students will have an opportunity to earn the Certified Guest Service Gold Professional Certification and the Certified Hospitality and Tourism Management Professional.  This course is Dual Enrolled with Delgado HOST 101 

PREREQUISITE:  None         Grade level:  11-12             Credit:  2           Fee:  Must have Khaki Pants, Oxford White Collar Shirt, and Black Non-Slip Closed Toe Shoes   Dual Enrollment: Delgado HOST 101   Credential:  Certified Guest Service Professional/Certified Hospitality and Tourism Management Professional

Hotel, Restaurant & Tourism (HRT) Administration II:

The Hotel, Restaurant and Tourism Administration course is a continuation to HRT Admin I and develops skills for a successful career in the hospitality industry.  Emphasis is placed on the various skills and services found in event planning, food and beverage management, advertising, marketing, travel and tourism. The class focuses on developing 21st century skills such as effective communication skills, teamwork and leadership practices that can be applied in any business setting. Topics covered in this course range from the planning, organization and implementation of events, fundraisers, festivals and walking tours, customer service training and the economic impact of tourism. Real world projects provide opportunities for application of instructional competencies.   This course is offered at the Satellite Center.
