Meet The Facilitator

Ms. Akendra Jackson

My name is Akendra Jackson and I am the Medical Assistant Facilitator for the 2022-2023 school year here at the Satellite Center for Medical Assistants. I have been a nurse with St. Charles Parish Public Schools for 12 years. I have a Bachelor's of Arts in Healthcare Administration from Ashford University.This is my second year as a facilitator with River Parish Community College here at the Satellite Center. I look forward to an amazingly productive school year with my new team members.

CERTIFICATE OF TECHNICAL STUDIES (CTS) MEDICAL ASSISTANT

The Certificate of Technical studies (CTS) in Medical Assisting is a 26- credit hour program created for students who are interested in working in a clinical setting of the healthcare field. Upon completion of the program, students will be eligible to take the NHA-CCMA Exam ( National Health Career Association-Certified Clinical Medical Assistant). All courses applied for the certificate must be passed with a "C" or better. Developmental courses will not be applied to a degree. Courses are taken as a cohort. 

Students who do not satisfy the course requirements will not be eligible to progress. Also, this program offers externship hours as well.
